Ba Ria-Vung Tau conference promotes regional and international trade potentials

Ba Ria-Vung Tau recently hosted a conference introducing export potentials and cooperation opportunities in the province and the southern region.

The conference, held in Vung Tau City on November 29, attracted the participation of many trade representatives and foreign trade promotion organizations in Vietnam.

The event was organized by the Department of Trade Promotion (Ministry of Industry and Trade) in collaboration with Department of Industry and Trade of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province.

Attending the conference were Do Thang Hai, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Nguyen Thanh Long, Member of the Provincial Standing Committee, Acting Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, and more than 100 delegates representing the Embassy and Consulate General offices, foreign trade and diplomatic agencies in Vietnam, departments, branches and enterprises of the southern provinces and enterprises in Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

The conference aimed to introduce potentials, mechanisms and preferential policies for attracting investment to Ba Ria-Vung Tau and to promoting trade and investment home and abroad. It was also an important event for the State management agencies and businesses in the province to get more information about investors, the market, technical barriers in exporting goods and other important aspects of international trade.

Such information would be crucial in helping businesses in the province expand their export markets.

In his opening address, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Do Thang Hai, said that the conference was important event that would generate opportunities for diplomatic missions and foreign trade representatives in Vietnam to explore and examine the market and connect with the authorities in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the departments of Industry and Trade of the southern provinces as well as enterprises in the province.

This would promote trade and promotion activities between the different parties, he added.

The deputy minister said he also believed that the event would open up new associations and continue to create conditions for foreign diplomatic missions and trade representatives in Vietnam to meet, discuss and establish investment and trade relations with localities in Vietnam. This, in turn would contribute to taking two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and other countries to new heights and promote a long-term, sustainable business and investment environment, he said.

In his welcome address, Nguyen Thanh Long said that the province will focus on attracting investment into all industries and services, according priority to supporting industries and high-tech industries; post-petrochemical industry; basic materials industry; manufacturing and processing industry; infrastructure investment, warehousing, transportation, logistics services, human resource training and other related services.

He asked businesses in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province to make good use of this opportunity to exchange, connect with foreign trade missions to expand cooperation opportunities, attract investment and expand overseas markets.

Representatives of the Phu My 3, Phu My 2 and Dat Do 1 industrial parks introduced their respective strengths and the incentives they offer to investors.

Vo Trinh Trieu, Director of the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion, shared specific information on import – export activities of the province, including the main export products, products looking for export markets as well as guidelines, policies and goals of the province in its economic development strategy.

Conference delegates discussed and proposed solutions for boosting the province’s exports, especially to new markets.
